Total Number of schools to be covered - 32
Total Number of schools to be sensitised - 22
Students from Standards 6, 7& 8 will be interacted with and motivated to drive this campaign.
Programme Overview
- Principals’ Meet: Involvement of School Heads.
- Sensitisation - School programme.
- Creation of proactive Energy Brigade.
- Exposure to Power Generation - Visit to the Tata Thermal Power Plant at Trombay.
- Formation of Energy Club - Creating a group of committed children to sustain and expand the cause of “Energy
Conservation”.
Process
Principals’ Meet:
To inform the Heads of Schools about the initiative
Obtain their commitment and involvement to the cause of Energy Conservation
Initiating the creation of a core supervisory team to guide and monitor the process.
Objectives of the Energy Conservation Drive:
- Sensitise the children-on the issue of Energy Conservation with respect to:
- Controlling the wastage of energy.
- Depletion of resources.
- Impact on larger environmental issues like greenhouse emissions & climate change.
- Sustainable resource utilization and economic benefits.
- Reaching out to others in their circle (friends & neighbors).
- Creating a group of active children committed to curbing energy wastage and championing the cause.
- Introducing the Energy Club Website – to enhance the outreach & participation, and sustain involvement.
School Contact program will comprise of:
Class Room workshop:
- In-class Educational Film and Presentation.
- Interactive session-to reinforce the content and assess the assimilation.
- Interpretation of electricity bills and educating on practical measures to curb wastage of power at home, school and society.
- Expectation of deliverance from children – bringing down energy consumption in their homes, spreading the message in the neighborhood.
- Optimizing the use of electrical gadgets / devices at home with the participation of family members.
- Recording and sharing the effective practices adopted and results within their immediate circle.
Energy Brigade:
Energy Champions
The group of children nominated by the school to monitor the energy conservation in their homes as well as schools, and bring down the energy usage over a specified period.
Energy Ambassadors
- The group comprises children who have been practicing energy conservation and carrying the message to others, with demonstrated impact.
- This group also facilitates awareness in own residential societies.
- Introduction of www.tatapowerenergyclub.com Website at every point of contact.
Recognition for the Energy Brigade:
- Opportunity to visit the Tata Thermal Power Plant in Trombay.
- Recognition amongst peer group - via presentation on the plant visit to the school, mementos and certification, special mentions on the Energy Club Website & School Notice Board.
